A loose joint, a bleached top, a door that no longer closes — most of it is repairable, and repairing it is usually the better answer than replacing it. We work on the furniture you already own, on the doors and fitted joinery built into the house, and we alter our own pieces to fit the room you actually have.

What we take on

Repairs to the structure, the surface and everything between.

If it is made of timber and it has failed, split, worn through or stopped fitting, it is worth asking about. The same bench skills apply whether the piece stands in the room or is built into the wall.

Structure and joints

Loose or failed joints taken apart, cleaned of old glue and re-made. Split rails, cracked seats and racked carcasses brought back square and rigid.

Surfaces and finish

Stripping back, sanding through the grits and re-finishing in oil, wax or lacquer. Heat rings, water bloom and sun-bleaching addressed before the new finish goes on.

Veneer, inlay and mouldings

Lifted veneer re-laid, missing sections patched in matched stock, and broken mouldings or beading cut to match the original profile.

Colour matching

New timber toned to sit with old, and repairs blended into the surrounding surface so the mend is not the first thing you see.

Fitted and fixed joinery

Doors and frames

Interior doors that stick, drop or will not latch — hinges reset, edges eased, frames brought back to square and the door rehung so it closes as it should.

Wardrobes and fitted units

Doors realigned, failed hinges and drawer runners replaced, water-damaged carcass sections cut out and remade, and new doors built to match an existing run.

Timber worktops and surfaces

Solid and veneered timber sanded back, joints re-glued, burns and knife marks taken out and the whole surface re-oiled. Stone and composite are not our trade.

Outdoor timber

Shutters, gates, pergolas, garden furniture and decking stripped and re-finished. Sun and salt age exterior timber in Cyprus faster than anything else does.

Customisation

Changing a piece so it fits the room.

Two different jobs, one workshop. Sometimes the piece is yours already and the room has changed around it. Sometimes it is one of ours and you want it a different size, timber or finish.

Straight answers

What we will tell you before you spend anything.

  • When a piece is not worth restoring. Some furniture costs more to repair properly than to replace, and we will say so rather than take the work.
  • When the age is the value. On an older piece, stripping an original surface can remove exactly what makes it worth having — often the right answer is to repair and leave the patina alone.
  • What is not ours to do. Gilding and specialist metalwork are not our trade — where a piece needs them we will say so and point you at someone who does that work properly. Upholstery we do not do in-house either, but we can bring in the Limassol leather workshop we already work with.
  • Where the job stops being woodwork. We do not touch stone or composite worktops, glazing, or the electrics and plumbing behind a fitted run. We will repair the timber around them and tell you who to call for the rest.

Common questions

How much does a repair cost?
There is no standard rate, because no two repairs are the same job — a chair needing one joint re-glued and a table with a split top that has to be drawn back together are hours of work apart. What sets the price is the severity of the damage, how much of the original timber can be saved, and whether the finish has to come off and go back on. Send a photograph and we will tell you what is involved and what it costs, in writing, before you commit to anything. The assessment and the opinion are free.
Is it worth repairing, or should I just replace it?
That is the question the assessment answers, and it is not one to settle from a description. Some pieces do cost more to repair properly than to replace, and where that is true we will tell you rather than take the work — but we would rather look at the damage before either of us concludes anything. Send a photograph. If it is worth doing we will say what is involved, and if it is not we will say that too.
How long does a repair take?
It depends on the piece and on what is already on the bench. A glue-up can be turned around quickly; a strip-back and refinish has drying time built into it that cannot be hurried. You get a timescale with the written quote, before you decide, rather than an open-ended wait.
Do you repair furniture you did not make?
Yes — most of what comes through the workshop was made by someone else, often a long time ago. You do not need to have bought anything from us.
Can you match the colour and finish of my other furniture?
Usually, yes. Colour matching is a skill of its own: new timber is toned to sit with old, and the repair is blended into the surrounding surface so the mend is not the first thing you see. On a piece where the existing finish has aged unevenly, we will tell you honestly how close we expect to get before we start.
Will restoring an older piece take away its value?
It can, which is why we ask before we do it. On an older piece the original surface is often exactly what makes it worth having, and taking it off removes value that cannot be put back. Where that is the case we will say so, and recommend repairing the damage while leaving the patina alone.
Do you only work in Limassol?
The workshop is in Mandria, in the Limassol district, and that is where the work is done, but we take on pieces from across Cyprus. Tell us where you are when you send the photograph.
